Camping at Copper Harbor

So we decided to try out the new campground at Copper Harbor for a couple of nights. Each of the campsites at The Trail's End Campground has a fire ring, picnic table and a level spot to pitch a tent.  No electricity and the water faucet and privy were on the other side of the campground. This was actually the first time Marja and I had camped in a designated campground.  We have always backpacked or canoed somewhere far from  the beaten path.

So to us this was rather posh, bordering on decadent.
But there's nothing wrong with taking it easy once in awhile.

With a baby and a toddler, this is really the only way to go.

We swam in Lake Superior and mountain biked on the Brockway Mountain Trail System, but let's face it - it's far easier to take pictures when you sitting around waiting for breakfast.

That bacon looks good!

Everyone was well fed.

The girls weren't always this congenial.  The first night they kept their parents up all night in the popup.  We didn't sleep the best the first night either, but a good breakfast and a beautiful morning go a long ways to repair the damage.  The second night we all slept well.  Btw, an air mattress is an absolute necessity here.  The ground is very rocky and the tent sites are basically smoothed over beds of cobblestones.  With a 3 inch air mattress under me I never felt a single rock.  Try that with a mattress pad.

Ready to hit the trails.
