June

Our pond is full of these turtles.  I caught one while swimming and brought it home to show it to our granddaughter.

These are appropriately named Painted Turtles.  When we were kids we often caught these on a nearby pond.  This was done by carefully poling  half water-logged raft  close to a turtle sunning itself on a log and then rushing to the edge of the raft to grab it before it dove into the water.  Generally the turtle would escape and the edge of the raft would sink deep into the water wetting our pants and shoes.

This little girl has been home at mealtimes.

The neighbors dropping in for a visit.

Morning Marja with a rainbow nose....

...caused by the prism hanging from this candlestick.  This was originally from my mother's house.  Every time Marja sees the rainbow spots on the ceiling and floor she thinks of colorful Toini.
This Finnish baby buggy is over 40 years old, but still works like a charm.  Children love sleeping outdoors.

Hey, what are you eating, grandpa?

An ice cream cone?  Sorry, your mother won't allow me to give you any.

Look at my summer dress!
