The Sun Appears

After the storm.

Hmmm...how can I catch that bird?

It's pleasure to blow snow on a sunny day.  It feels much different if you have to do it on a stormy night and all you see are the reflectors on the stakes along the side of the driveway and the snow drifting across the road in front of you.

Everything looks so soft and peaceful.

And the snow on the trees matches the clouds in the sky.

Ice flowers on our bedroom window.

This guy showed up to check out a deer carcass I had left out for the ravens.
Pictures of my father, Tauno Kilpela, which were on display at his funeral.

A Cold, Gray Day

Ilkka watching the birds at the feeders.

Nothing to brag about, but cold enough for the government.

This is always a cheerful sight...

Can't say that for this guy.

Lake effect snow.  The sun was shining twenty miles to the south.

A little color on a gray day.

Look who got a new bicycle for Christmas.  These standover push bikes are easier for small children to ride than the old tricycles ever were.

Time to refuel after a hard ride.

Pine Grosbeaks are often visit our feeders during the winter.

Christmas 2017

Santa's elves delight in the new snow.

Hauling in the Christmas tree.  I had actually selected another tree last summer, but it was too far to drag in the deep very fluffy snow.

Our newest granddaughter.

This little girl knows how to eat a bagel. You first eat all the cream cheese.

Joulupuu on rakennettu...

A pileated woodpecker visited our apple tree.

Good thing everyone is wearing wool.

I "planted" this spruce with a posthole digger so we could hang lights on it.

Dashing through the snow in a one-man open sleigh....

O'er the fields we go, laughing all the way....

Nar juldags morgon glimmer....Christmas morning

Sininen hetki...the blue moment

Looking through the kitchen window....

It was a stormy, cold day, but everyone stayed warm.
